DMMs are super useful, and I often find myself wishing I had one when I don’t — like at a family member’s house when someone’s wondering if the AA batteries in the remote are dead, or when my car won’t start and I want to check the 12V battery. Pocket DMMs are still too large, about the size of a cell phone, and for me that’s still way too big to carry around all the time. So I wanted to shrink it down to the size of a car key fob.
Once I got the basics working I started adding other features: a gyro, accelerometer, LiDAR, barometer, and more.
